30-OFF-HOSTING
Hosting tuned for your surveys. Response data stays on your server under your control, on the LAMP stack LimeSurvey was built for.
Most LimeSurvey instances run comfortably on shared LAMP hosting. When your response volume grows or you want guaranteed CPU and RAM for a high-stakes research project, the same cPanel and Softaculous experience scales straight up to a Managed VPS.
Softaculous 1-click · PHP · MariaDB
Guaranteed CPU & RAM · Root access
The features that matter for self-hosted surveys, included on every plan.
The classic LAMP stack LimeSurvey is built for. PHP 7.4 through 8.3 selectable per-domain, with MariaDB databases provisioned through cPanel.
LimeSurvey installs in two clicks from cPanel with database credentials, admin account, and SSL configured. Same flow for upgrades.
Response data lives in your account on hardware we own and operate. No SaaS export caps. No third-party broker between you and your respondents.
Self-hosting gives you direct control over where respondent data lives, who can access it, how long it is retained, and when it is deleted.
Real Ultra employees, not a third-party call center. Plugin conflicts, PHP version questions, database issues, migration help, all from the same team.
Dell PowerEdge hardware on RAID and UPS, on-site technicians in the same building as the racks. When something breaks, the fix happens in minutes.
Run LimeSurvey on the LAMP stack it was designed for, with Softaculous installing it in two clicks and your response data sitting in a MariaDB database you fully control.

LimeSurvey is a full-featured survey and data collection platform with support for 30+ question types, conditional logic, multilingual surveys, and GDPR-compliant data handling. Running your own LimeSurvey instance means your response data stays on your server under your control.
Ultra LimeSurvey Hosting runs that stack on cPanel and CloudLinux on Dell PowerEdge hardware we own outright, not leased from a hyperscaler. Softaculous installs LimeSurvey in two clicks with the right database credentials, the admin account, and a free Let's Encrypt SSL certificate already in place. PHP 7.4 through 8.3 is selectable per-domain, MariaDB databases are provisioned through cPanel, and the daily JetBackup with 30-day restore points means you can roll a survey database back if a configuration change goes wrong. For researchers, NGOs, healthcare organizations, and academic teams who need a defensible answer to "where does the respondent data live and who can read it," self-hosting on infrastructure operated by a single 23-year-old US company is meaningfully different from a SaaS broker.
If LimeSurvey is part of a broader self-hosted application stack, our Application Hosting page lists every platform in the Softaculous catalog that runs on the same shared LAMP infrastructure, including osTicket, phpBB, MediaWiki, Moodle, and dozens more. The LimeSurvey entry on our hosting features page covers where it fits in the broader supported stack. The Managed VPS upgrade path is in place the moment your response volume outgrows shared hosting, with the same cPanel and Softaculous experience and root access for tuning MariaDB and PHP-FPM to your survey workload.

Softaculous one-click install ships the current LimeSurvey Community Edition (currently the 6.x line) and a Long-Term Support (LTS) release alongside it. Older 5.x and 3.x installs are also fully supported on the LAMP stack if you are migrating an existing instance. PHP 7.4 through 8.3 is selectable per-domain via cPanel's PHP Selector, so any LimeSurvey version's PHP requirement is covered.
Yes. LimeSurvey is in the Softaculous catalog included on every plan. Two clicks in cPanel and you have a working install at your domain with database credentials, admin account, and SSL already configured. Upgrades through Softaculous are also one click, with automatic file and database backup before the upgrade applies.
LimeSurvey's built-in export covers CSV, Excel, SPSS, R, STATA, PDF, HTML, and Microsoft Word formats for response data, plus structured XML for survey definitions. The full MariaDB database is yours to dump via phpMyAdmin or mysqldump whenever you want a portable copy. Nothing is locked behind a paid tier or a SaaS export limit.
Yes. LimeSurvey can import survey definitions from XML, CSV, and other LimeSurvey installations. For SurveyMonkey or Qualtrics, you typically export your survey to PDF or CSV, then rebuild the structure in LimeSurvey using its survey designer (which is faster than it sounds thanks to bulk question import). Response data can be imported as CSV. Our support team can help with the file copy and database setup if you are migrating an existing self-hosted LimeSurvey instance.
Self-hosting LimeSurvey on your own account gives you direct control over respondent data: where it lives, who can access it, how long it is retained, and when it is deleted. LimeSurvey itself includes GDPR-oriented features like anonymous responses, data anonymization, configurable retention, consent statements, and per-respondent data export and erasure. Combined with hosting on hardware we own and manage in-house, you have a defensible position for GDPR Article 28 data processing.
PHP 7.4, 8.0, 8.1, 8.2, and 8.3 are available per-domain via cPanel's PHP Selector. LimeSurvey 6.x targets PHP 8.1 or newer and we default new installs to 8.2 for the best balance of compatibility and performance. CloudLinux HardenedPHP back-ports critical security fixes to legacy PHP 7.x branches if you need to keep an older LimeSurvey install running.
Yes. Shared hosting comfortably handles small to mid-sized surveys (hundreds to low thousands of responses). For very high-volume research projects, sudden mass-distribution campaigns, or surveys that need dedicated CPU and RAM, our Managed VPS plans are the next step up. VPS gives you guaranteed CPU and RAM slices, root access for tuning MariaDB and PHP-FPM to your survey workload, and the same cPanel and Softaculous experience for LimeSurvey upgrades.
