Which LimeSurvey versions are supported?
Softaculous one-click install ships the current LimeSurvey Community Edition (currently the 6.x line) and a Long-Term Support (LTS) release alongside it. Older 5.x and 3.x installs are also fully supported on the LAMP stack if you are migrating an existing instance. PHP 7.4 through 8.3 is selectable per-domain via cPanel's PHP Selector, so any LimeSurvey version's PHP requirement is covered.
Is LimeSurvey installed with one click?
Yes. LimeSurvey is in the Softaculous catalog included on every plan. Two clicks in cPanel and you have a working install at your domain with database credentials, admin account, and SSL already configured. Upgrades through Softaculous are also one click, with automatic file and database backup before the upgrade applies.
Can I export my LimeSurvey response data?
LimeSurvey's built-in export covers CSV, Excel, SPSS, R, STATA, PDF, HTML, and Microsoft Word formats for response data, plus structured XML for survey definitions. The full MariaDB database is yours to dump via phpMyAdmin or mysqldump whenever you want a portable copy. Nothing is locked behind a paid tier or a SaaS export limit.
Can I migrate from SurveyMonkey, Qualtrics, or another survey platform?
Yes. LimeSurvey can import survey definitions from XML, CSV, and other LimeSurvey installations. For SurveyMonkey or Qualtrics, you typically export your survey to PDF or CSV, then rebuild the structure in LimeSurvey using its survey designer (which is faster than it sounds thanks to bulk question import). Response data can be imported as CSV. Our support team can help with the file copy and database setup if you are migrating an existing self-hosted LimeSurvey instance.
Is LimeSurvey hosting GDPR-friendly?
Self-hosting LimeSurvey on your own account gives you direct control over respondent data: where it lives, who can access it, how long it is retained, and when it is deleted. LimeSurvey itself includes GDPR-oriented features like anonymous responses, data anonymization, configurable retention, consent statements, and per-respondent data export and erasure. Combined with hosting on hardware we own and manage in-house, you have a defensible position for GDPR Article 28 data processing.
What PHP versions does LimeSurvey support on Ultra?
PHP 7.4, 8.0, 8.1, 8.2, and 8.3 are available per-domain via cPanel's PHP Selector. LimeSurvey 6.x targets PHP 8.1 or newer and we default new installs to 8.2 for the best balance of compatibility and performance. CloudLinux HardenedPHP back-ports critical security fixes to legacy PHP 7.x branches if you need to keep an older LimeSurvey install running.
